Just 2 Much 2 Do
Since we're in "funny stories" mode I thought it would be fun to ask a few other people in the concierge business to contribute and tell us a few funny things that have happened while running errands or performing any number of services "we" offer in the concierge business. As most of you know "Life Management and Concierge Services" encompasses many services from running errands, transporting people to the Doctor's (some services do, some don't), organization, house sitting, etc. Check out my page or Tracey's (below) for more information.
The stories below are from Tracey Miles, Owner of Just 2 Much 2 Do, LLC. "The Company to call when you can't do it all!" Tracy lives in Ambler, Pennsylvania.
Enjoy her two contributions below.
I received a call from a client who I would grocery shop for on occasion. She called to ask if I transported people. She was really desperate for a ride to the hospital. I told her that I do not transport clients for insurance reasons. Well, she didn’t want to take no for an answer. She proceeded to beg me to give her a ride because she really had to get to the hospital. I felt so sorry for her. She is a little old lady who is alone in the world. She has no one. She was so upset and distraught that I finally gave in and agreed to take her. I picked her up and drove her to a local hospital. She then asked me if I would accompany her to the 4th floor. I agreed just to make sure she arrived safely. Little did I know that when I arrived at the 4th floor that this was the psychiatric unit and she was being admitted as an inpatient! I walked around for days saying to myself, I drove a lady to the hospital to be committed!
The second funny story....
For another client, I was supposed to run an errand to take a broken laptop to the repair shop. She could remember where the shop was located but couldn’t remember the name or address of the shop. She said, “But it is easy to find!” She gave me directions to the shop. After my last right turn, the shop was supposed to be on my left. Amazingly enough it was! I dropped off the PC to be repaired. A day later, the shop called to tell me what was wrong. My client needed to call to authorize repairs. She called her shop and they had no record of the laptop being delivered. I was floored! Of course, I delivered it as requested! I even had a claim check! After some investigation, I found out that there are three computer repair shops right on the same block. Where I picked the first one I saw after my turn, my client always used the last one on the block. Note to self: the client must provide the name and location for future errands!
