Saving time and energy with small appliances

We all have to eat. Doing so quickly and cheaply can help save time and money without going hungry. Saving time and money can be best accomplished by cooking meals at home and using energy-efficient counter top equipment to help add variety and lower dishes.

Counter top appliances can come in handy in several ways and often cook faster using less energy while also allowing for more specialized cooking. This provides a perfect solution  for more efficient cooking, especially for those who downsize or often cook single meals.

A Pro Organizer De-Clutters Your Spending

6 Creative Ways to Help Organize Your Home

I’ve always been one of those people with too much stuff. Between my love for thrift stores and the packrat gene that I inherited from my grandmother, I just love to collect things. Tiny ceramic kitten knickknacks, vintage hats, shoes, scarves, anything. And while I am not a hoarder, (I really can get rid of things, I promise!) I have amassed a few clever tricks over the years to store my stuff.
1.

Closet Organizing

Unless you can "DIY" and go to Home Depot or the Container Store (I love their Elfa Systems) , and if you don't want to spend a lot of money for a custom job, then Closet by Design is my recommendation. You get a closet "custom done" w/o the high end custom price.

These photos are the before and after proof of two closets I recently organized.

Storage Tips

One of the most common mistakes people make (and the reason they can't find things later) is they don't store "like items" together.

Such as:

  • mouth & tooth care
  • hair styling supplies
  • hair care products
  • skin & body care
  • cosmetics
  • nail care
  • shaving supplies
  • first aid
  • bath tub accessories
  • cold and flu care

Same goes for filing.

Organize Your Kitchen and Bath

· Determine the purpose your kitchen serves. Do you use it for activities other than food preparation, such as completing homework or paying bills? Set up a specific area in the kitchen for those tasks and gather supplies. For example, to set up a bill-paying center, you'll need: checkbook, envelopes, stamps, return address labels, pens, and a place to store bills to be paid. Keep them together and get them out as needed to use in this space.

Artwork Overload Tips

  1. Post artwork temporarily to give the family a chance to admire it. To create a fancy refrigerator display, purchase a few 8x10 and 5x7 cardboard mattes. Glue plastic sleeves behind them to hold kids' pictures, and attach magnets so they stick to the fridge. You can easily remove and rotate art as new creations arrive.
  2. Or dedicate a couple standard wall frames to hold kids' artwork, and change out old art as new masterpieces arrive. As items are rotated out, store them in a drawer or even an unused pizza box.

Tips for keeping collections under control

First off, gather together all your collectibles from one category. (If you collect multiple types of things, only tackle one genre at a time. You don't want to be working on coins and books at the same time.) By doing this, you'll be able to really see what you have. Some people are surprised by the volume they've accumulated once they see it all together.

Make the Earth Happy

One of the benefits to living an organized life is the positive impact you can have on our environment. When you're organized, you can buy less stuff (reduce), you can think of creative ways to reinvent old items (reuse), and you can thoughtfully dispose of your discards (recycle). Follow these tips to tackle the first "R." You'll earn key benefits like saving money, time, and natural resources, as well as feeling less cluttered and stressed at home and work.
