During vacations or prolonged absences people don’t hesitate to have someone come into their home to watch "Fido" or continue maid and landscaping services, so it only makes sense to have someone walking your property weekly, checking to ensure your home hasn't been flooded or windows haven’t been broken. IF something does happen while you are unavailable, Extra You is at your disposal to make the necessary calls and begin repairing windows, lifting rugs, ventilating rooms, or changing house locks.
Extra You’s property management clients consist of two primary groups: those who live out of the country but maintain a home in Northern Virginia, and those who call us when they go away for vacations from 10-30 days. The bottom line is that property management is a smart, simple way of mitigating possible additional expenses from leaving your house unattended for any period of time.
Some of the tasks we conduct specifically for property management clients include:
- Pick up mail 2-3 times a week and forward it to a designated pouch address
- Ensure refrigerator is stocked upon your return
- Arrange and wait on contractors
- Organize a move in or move out
- Organize belongings
- Set up Utilities or schedule disconnects
- Organize an area of the home while owners are away
- "Stage" the home or room after repairs
- Water plants
- Supervise maid service
- Monitor and supervise landscapers
- Start car engines
- Purchase entertainment tickets so they are available when you arrive home
- Organize family records into a single binder (such as emergency contacts, legal documents, etc.)

This is a painless, thorough way of documenting your valuables for insurance purposes and adds immensely in the event a police report is required. When we found out that my husband's job would be taking us out of the country for much of the year I had no idea how we would be able to manage our home here in Virginia. Who would check on the house in case of problems? How would I get mail and packages? These were two of the many concerns we had. Then I found Extra You. They check on my house, forward mail, even periodically start the cars so the battery won't be dead when we get home. It's been a wonderful relief for us. I get updates on how everything is and if there are any concerns. For instance once the sprinkler system seemed not to be working in one area, Rebekah e-mailed us about it and we were able to contact our landscape people to fix it. Extra You allows us to be in two places at one time. If a service man has to get in, Rebekah can be there. Need some groceries there when you arrive home? They will be in the fridge for you. Once, our daughter was going to be staying at our house for the week-end and arriving late at night. Unfortunately I couldn't be there to see her, but Rebekah made sure the lights were on when she got there. When we are away from our home for these long periods of time, Extra You has given us peace of mind.

Property Management Clients
The Stokes family has a home in Oakton, VA and a home in The Bahamas.Mr. Stokes works in both Virginia and The Bahamas. We visit the home twice a week and forward mail, walk the home and oversee contractor issues when needed. If anything looks "out of the ordinary" (such as growing weeds) we keep tabs on the upkeep of the Virginia home and stay in close contact with the family. 8-12 hours per month
The Davidson's have a home in Leesburg, VA and a home in West Africa (soon to again relocate to another foreign country). They bought a home "to retire in" here in Virginia. In the meantime, we will visit the home weekly (they started out with wanting the home visited 3 times a week), purchased lights and timers for the home, dealt with snow removal when needed, scheduled the home to be rekeyed after purchase and had all utilities turned on and set up for automatic payment directly after closing. 12-15 hours per month
The Foresters have a home in Alexandria, VA and a home in Grand Cayman Islands. They live in Grand Cayman full time, but also have 2 homes here and friends, family and themselves use frequently....so much so it's as if someone is really at the home full time, yet they use Extra You twice weekly to oversee the comings and goings. Prepare for "other guest" (with flowers, groceries and gifts), take care of deliveries to the home, unpack boxes as received and distribute as instructed. We deal with contractors monthly and oversaw a renovation on their behalf. 8-12 hours per month
